First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with black titles to the spine, in the Bip Pares illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth with some ghosting from the dustwrapper design on the spine. The contents, with some toning to the endpapers, a few spots to the closed fore-edge and light splash marks to pages 100, 138-139, and 212-213 are otherwise clean and free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and creased dustwrapper which has a few short closed tears at the edges and a touch of fading to the spine. Not price-clipped (8/6 on the front flap).
The seventh Tommy Hambledon thriller. "Perhaps it was partly because Tommy Hambledon was on holiday in Sweden when he got swept into the imbroglio of post-war Nazi plotting that he treated the affair, at the outset, almost as an escapade, a vacation thrill following on grimmer business." (from the jacket) (Hubin).
