MURDER IS EASY

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original orange cloth with black titles to the spine. Lacking the scarce dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with some bumping at the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh with just a touch of fading to the spine. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. The closed text block edge is spotted. A nice copy in entirely original condition.

Set in the quiet village of Wychwood under Ashe, retired policeman Luke Fitzwilliam investigates a string of apparently unrelated deaths that turn out to be devious multiple murder plot. Superintendent Battle (who previously appeared in The Secret of Chimneys, The Seven Dials Mystery and Cards on the Table) also makes a late appearance. The first edition was published by Collins in June 1939, the American edition (published by Dodd, Mead and Co.) followed in September under the title 'Easy to Kill'. (Hubin; Wagstaff & Poole; Curran, John: The Hooded Gunman).
