First UK edition, first printing. Original ochre cloth with black lettering to the spine, lacking the dustwrapper. Illustrated map endpapers. A good copy, with a few small breaches between page gatherings (one of which appears to have been repaired) and a couple of pages with stained margins and some light creasing. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to the front pastedown, the contents otherwise clean and without inscriptions or stamps. The cloth is a little toned and soiled, with a few light surface stains, the rough-cut page block edges a little dusty with a few light marks. Scarce.
