First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black cloth with silver titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with some light rubbing to the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very good rubbed and nicked dustwrapper, that has a 1cm closed tear to the bottom of the heavilyfaded spine. Not price-clipped (18s net to the the front flap).

Signed by John Le Carré in blue ink on the title page 'with best wishes / John Le Carré / Lund. 21 Sep 65'. The author's fourth novel, all of which feature George Smiley. The Looking-Glass War was written as a satirical response to the public reaction to The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, and is the basis for the 1970 Frank R. Pierson directed film, starring Ralph Richardson, Christopher Jones and Anthony Hopkins.
