First edition, first printing. Publisher's original orange cloth with black titles to the spine and upper board, in the Vernon L. Soper illustrated dustwrapper. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with a little bumping to the corners and edges of the lower board. The contents, with light spotting and toning to the text block edges, a previous owner's bookplate and shelf stamp the front pastedown and faint offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed, nicked and creased dustwrapper which has a 2cm and 1/2cm closed tear to the front panel as well as a few very tiny closed tears to the spine tips. With the publisher's printed price of 7/6 net to the spine that is covered with a 2/6 paper label. Scarce in the dustwrapper.

Her book 'Ashes of Vengeance', a drama set in 16th century France, was adapted into a film of the same name in 1923 starring Norma Talmadge and Wallace Beery and directed by Frank LLloyd.
