Brown, Professor Emerita of Medieval Manuscript Studies at University College London and former Curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at the British Library. Brown has also provided commentaries for facsimiles of the Luttrell Psalter and the Lindisfarne Gospels. The Holkham Bible was created in England in the early 1300s and depicts biblical scenes using contemporary, local settings, making it an important visual reference for medieval English life. It was acquired by The British Library from the library of Holkham Hall in 1952.
