CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS AND STATUTE OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

Limited edition, number 119 of an unspecified limitation. Signed and inscribed by Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan to UK foreign secretary Malcolm Rifkind. Original full navy-blue morocco with UN emblem in gilt to each cover. All edges gilt. Light-pink watered silk endpapers and matching silk ribbon page marker. A near fine copy, the binding square and tight with just a touch of rubbing to the corners. The contents remain clean and crisp throughout.

Signed and inscribed By Kofi Annan in black ink to the head of the title page "To Malcolm, / A steadfast friend of the United Nations / Kofi Annan / Feb '97". An excellent association copy, gifted by the newly appointed Secretary-General of the United Nations, and later recipient of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize, Kofi Annan to the soon-to-be-ousted British foreign secretary Malcolm Rifkind, whose tenure witnessed the Bosnian War, the British Government's commitment to a Palestinian State on the West Bank and in Gaza, and the British hand-over of Hong Kong.
