First edition, first printing. Beautiful contemporary full vellum with gilt titles to the upper board, gilt bands the the spine, a gilt decorative border to upper and lower boards. Gilt floral patterned endpapers, inner gilt dentelles. A collection of original poems and poems translated from the French by Howson Taylor. A 1909 newspaper clipping of Howson Taylor's translation of a 16th century poem called 'Icarus' is loosely laid in (the editor's note very charmingly points out the topical nature of the poem in light of recent innovations in aviation). A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the vellum a little mottled, the boards very slightly bowed. The contents, with the gilt of the endpapers oxidised to the margins, are clean throughout and free of previous owner's stamps or inscriptions. Scarce.
