First edition with these illustrations, first printing. Signed by the illustrator. Original glossy illustrated boards, housed in an illustrated slipcase decorated with two blue beads inlaid on the front board. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white by Rodney Matthews. A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents clean and bright throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. The fine slipcase has the publisher's price sticker on the rear board. Scarce signed.

Signed and dated by Rodney Matthews in black ink on the half title. Offering a unique take on Carroll's surreal world, Matthews adds hints of a science fiction sensibility to his purple hued rendition of Alice's adventures. Matthews is a prolific science fiction and fantasy poster artist also known for his many album covers for progressive rock and metals bands such as Thin Lizzy and Magnum and for creating the ITV children's stop-motion animation series 'Lavender Castle'.
