Also included is 'The Original Alice' booklet, illustrated with Carroll's photographs and John Tenniel's illustrations. Both are housed in the original gilt illustrated box with an oval portrait onlay.
Issued in a limited edition of 3750 copies of which this example is numbered 1626. A beautiful and luxuriously produced Folio Society facsimile of the earliest surviving manuscript of what would become Carroll's beloved classic 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. The accompanying booklet gives a contextual background to the writing of 'Alice' and the lives of Carroll and Alice Liddell, the inspiration for the character of Alice.
