First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author. Original red cloth with blue titles to the spine. In the dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, a few small patches of wear to the extremities. The contents, with a little foxing and offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the original rubbed and chipped dustwrapper which has loss to the top spine tip. Not price clipped (25s net to the front flap).
Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front free endpaper "For Philip Orminson [?] / Rupert Croft-Cooke / 1960". An interesting and informative musing on English cooking, written not as lists of recipes but, as befitting a novelist, as continuous text detailing the author's often amusing thoughts on how specific dishes are best cooked and served.
