CRIME FOR TWO, By Members of the Mystery Writers of America.

First edition, first printing. Raymond Chandler's copy. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black and brown cloth with titles in black and brown to the spine, in the Edward Sorel illustrated dustwrapper. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping to the spine tips and corners, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with the ownership inscription of Raymond Chandler in blue ink on the front endpaper, neat ticks next to ten of the 18 stories on the contents page and the ink stamp of The Mystery Writers of America (with publication date) in black to the front pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has several short closed tears, tiny chips to the corners and some fading of the spine. The rear panel is somewhat rippled. Not price-clipped ($3.00 to the lower front flap).

With the ownership signature of Raymond Chandler and inscribed "London 12.12.55 / This is MWA's annual anthology" in blue ink on the front endpaper. The sixth annual Mystery Writers of America anthology, published and sent to Raymond Chandler in the year he won the MWA Edgar Award for The Long Goodbye. A wonderful association copy. The volume, edited and with an introduction by Frances and Richard Lockridge collects 18 stories by Margery Allingham, Robert Arthur, David Alexander, Lawrence G. Blochman, Anthony Boucher, Charles B. Child, Bruno Fischer, Michael Gilbert, Brett Halliday, John D. Macdonald, Will Oursler, Stuart Palmer, Q. Patrick, Ellery Queen, Georges Simenon, Lawrence Treat and Thomas Walsh.
