First UK edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with silver titles to the spine, in the Philip Youngman Carter illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some bumping at the spine tips and the bottom corner of the upper board. The contents, with some spotting to the closed text-block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and creased, price-clipped dustwrapper which has a 9cm closed tear to the front panel and a 1cm closed tear to the head of the spine, both of which have been repaired with tape to the underside.
