Inscribed by the artist in black ink on the front endpaper "Marušce na / památku na Vánoce 1929/ Mucha [underlined]" [To Maruška in memory of Christmas 1929]. Mucha met Maruška in 1903 in Paris, following an introduction by her uncle, the eminent Czech art historian Dr. Karel Chytil. They were married in 1906 in Prague. A touching and exceptionally rare presentation copy, published during the height of his career. from the acclaimed Art Nouveau artist to his wife, muse and most loyal supporter. One of a small unnumbered issue reserved for the author and artist, signed by Mucha and Hais-Tynecky on the limitation page at the rear.
