The scarce and wonderful Swedish edition of The Hobbit, illustrated by the the much-loved creator of the Moomin books Tove Jansson. Arguably the most famous and sought after foreign language edition of Tolkien's fantasy masterpiece. This was the second Swedish translation and the first to meet Tolkien's approval. The first Swedish edition (and first ever foreign language edition) was published in 1947 under the title "Hompen", translated by Tore Zetterholm and illustrated by Torbjörn Zetterholm. Tolkien took great umbrage at the publisher's failure to use the correct title, the translator's disrespectful butchering of the text and the illustrator's interpretation of Gollum; an experience he ensured was not to be repeated in subsequent translations or editions.
