First edition, first printing of the Rolling Stones drummer's illustrated poetic tribute to the legendary saxophonist Charlie 'Yardbird' Parker. Publisher's original white boards, printed in black to the upper and lower panels. Illustrated in colour throughout. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping and rubbing at the spine tips and folds. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. With the "seven shillings" price label tipped in at the front endpaper, as issued. An attractive example.

Charlie Watts produced the illustrated poem in 1961 as a children's book for his portfolio whilst at art school. Later in 1964 the publisher of Rolling Stones Monthly saw it thinking there was "a few bob in it" arranged publication of the 36-page book published by Beat Publications in London on January 17, 1965. It was not until 1991 that the book was reissued, in a facsimile edition as part of a CD box set.
