First edition, first printing of the first Punk novel. Publisher's original yellow card covers printed in black with a safety pin through the upper cover, as issued. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. An unread example, justifiably so by Pete Thownsend's opinion [who perhaps took umbrage at the lead character's disdain for the multimillionaire's "plastic" band that "talked about fighting the system and capitalism whilst giving away backstage passes to the Queen and Elizabeth Taylor"].
Widely acknowledged as the first punk novel. The manuscript of the 14 year old author's classroom essay was rescued from the bin by his mother, resulting in a first edition of just 500 copies. The book must have sold reasonably well as it was reprinted in much larger numbers in association with Corgi Books later the same year. This was to be Sams' only published work as he tragically died aged 26 in New York.
