An original drawing by Alphonse Mucha in pencil with a thin pen and ink border on heavy paper. Picturing a beautifully rendered angel dressed in billowing robes and holding a staff in an opulent interior, showcasing Mucha's characteristic delicate yet confident line-work. An illustration for Andelicek z Baroku [Little Baroque Angel] by Josef Hais Tıneckı published by J. Otto, Prague in 1929 (appearing on page 80 of the first edition). The drawing itself measures 11.5cm x 10.5cm while the sheet of paper measures 29.5cm x 21.5cm. With two gallery ink stamps to the back and one faint ink stamp toward the bottom edge of the front. Signed in pencil to the lower right. Rare.

Mucha is known for his distinctive strong, sweeping, curved lines and natural motifs. His work has become the most loved and recognised representation of Art Nouveau, and continues to have a lasting impact on visual arts today. This original drawing offers a fascinating, intimate look at the artist's accomplished use of pencil.
