Publisher's original blue cloth, with gilt titles and borders to the upper board and spine. Red leather title labels. Blue top-stain. Issued without dustwrappers. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographic plates, illustrations and maps. An excellent better than very good set, the binding square and firm, with light rubbing to the spine ends and corners, the boards a little marked. All four volumes have light fading to the spine and to the margin of some of the boards, with volume one mildly faded to the top third of the rear board. The contents, with a few spots to the fore-edge of volume three, are otherwise clean and bright throughout.
