Second edition. Publisher's original glossy paper covers with titles in black to the front cover and photograph of Hatashil Masha Kathish. Black and white portrait frontispiece of the author in 1888 and another in 1901. Stapled binding. 79pp. A good only copy, the covers which are detached from the rusted staples, are creased, chipped and marked with splits and tears along the spine. The contents, a little creased and rubbed to the corners, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps.

The autobiography of Hatashil Masha Kathish (c.1859 - 1946), Prince of the Dinka Tribe of Soudan. An account of his experiences during his enslavement by Arabs, his later release from captivity by Lieutenant Colonel Romolo Gessi and his subsequent journey to England with Reverand C. T. Wilson and Dr Robert William Felkin of the Uganda Mission, where he would convert to Christianity (baptised as Salim Wilson) and become a preacher. The first edition was published in 1889, the second edition includes additional information not present in the first. Scarce.
