First edition, first printing of both volumes. 'As It Was' is in the publisher's original terracotta cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding firm and cloth and gilt bright and fresh, the spine a little rolled. The contents, heavily spotted to the page edges and prelims are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. With two cancelled leaves (at pages 53-56) and an errata slip, as issued. Complete with the good rubbed, nicked and spotted dustwrapper that is chipped at the spine tips and with a large split (without loss) from the base of the spine, with an old tape repair to the underside. 'World Without End' is in the publisher's original brown cloth with black titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding a little bumped at the spine tips and corners, the cloth fresh. The contents, with a little spotting to the prelims are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with heavily chipped dustwrapper that is darkened to the spine and panel edges with several old tape repairs to the reverse. Both volumes are scarce in dustwrapper.
