Hand-woven Indian silk covered boards. Top edges gilt. Silk ribbon page marker. Map endpapers. With a frontispiece and chapter heading illustrations in black and white throughout by Eric Fraser. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean and bright throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Housed in the original Wassa goatskin, scalloped edged slipcase with titles in gilt to one side.

Issued in a limited edition of 1750 copies of which this example is numbered 914. Eric Fraser first lent his bold, dramatic illustration style to Tolkien's work for the 1977 Folio Society edition of 'The Lord of the Rings', closely followed by an edition of 'The Hobbit'.
