First edition, first printing. Original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine and black titles and design to the upper board, without dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in black and white by W. T. Horton and H. M. Brock. A very good copy, the binding firm with light bumping at the extremities, some toning to the spine and wear to the cloth, particularly to the spine tips and corners. The contents, with a previous owners' inscription to the front free endpaper and a small bookseller's label to the front pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout. The paper at the rear inner hinge is cracked but is holding firm.
