Original black paper-covered boards with silver titles to the spine and titles and and illustration in silver to the upper board, in the dustwrapper featuring an illustration by Frederick Church. With a black and white frontispiece portrait of Hawthorne. A very good or copy, the binding square and firm with some light bumping to the edges. There is some light spotting to the top edge of the closed text-block, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lighlyt rubbed and creased dustwrapper which shows some dustiness, particularly to the spine. Not price-clipped (£32.50 on the front flap).
