First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Original orange cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in the dustwrapper designed by Neville Craven. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Light spotting to page block edges and endpapers, with a few spots to prelims and final pages. The bright, clean dustwrapper shows a little rubbing to edges, folds and corners. Not price-clipped (10s. 6d. net to the front flap). An attractive copy.

Signed by the author in blue ink to the front free endpaper. An earlier version of 'The White Mountain' entitled 'Cosmopolis' was suppressed on publication in 1932.
