First edition, first printing. Two volumes. Publisher's original green cloth illustrated in black to the upper board and spine, titles in gilt to the spine. Black coated endpapers. Publisher's catalogue to the rear in the earliest state (dated 6G-581). A good copy, the binding uniformly rubbed and worn at the spine tips and corners of both volumes, the gilt still bright. The contents, with a previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown and the occasional finger mark and foxing spot are otherwise clean throughout.
