First edition. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards with titles in gilt to the spine. Illustrated with an engraved folding map frontispiece and vignette title page, three lithographic plates and two further wood engraved vignettes in text. 120pp. BOUND WITH: A series of five sections and eleven engraved plates from J. P. Neale's "Views of The Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland" (London: Sherwood, Jones, and Co., 1824), relating to Fonthill Abbey, Wiltshire (five plates), Armidale (one plate), Invernesshire (one plate), Drum, Aberdeenshire (one plate), Fyvie Castles, Aberdeenshire (one plate), and Hornby Castle, Yorkshire (two plates). A very good copy, the binding square and firm with wear and to the spine and joints, some small areas of loss to the spine and wear to the corners. The contents with a previous owners' inscription to the front free endpaper and some occasional light scattered foxing are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. The folding map remains in excellent condition, free from any tears or damage.
