AN OFFICIAL GUIDE TO EASTERN ASIA. TRANS-CONTINENTAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN EUROPE AND ASIA. VOL. III NORTH-EASTERN JAPAN.

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original limp brown cloth with titles in gilt to the front cover and spine. Gilt to top edge. With dustwrapper. Illustrated with a colour woodcut frontispiece, five full-page black and white collotype plates, numerous black and white in-text vignettes, and 28 colour maps/plans, several folding, plus two maps to the endpapers. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with bumping to corners. The contents with a previous owner's ink initials to the front endpaper, tanning to the map endpapers and minor spotting to the text-block edge are otherwise in good order and clean throughout. The maps remain in unusually fine condition, free from any damage or wear. The dustwrapper has minor chipping to the head and tail of the spine, a two and a half inch tear to the right hand of the spine, and a two inch tear to the front panel, but otherwise is in good condition.

An extensive travel guide to the region, including sections on Yokohama, Tokyo, Kamakura, Hakone, Mt. Fuji, Numazu, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Gifu, and Hokkaido, amongst others. Scarce with the dustwrapper and with the maps in such good condition. Provenance: From the library of Martin Stone.
