First edition. Publisher's original blue cloth with titles and border in red to the upper board, titles in gilt to the spine. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping to the spine tips and corners, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, toned to the endpapers and half title and with mild spotting to the prelims, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Publisher's catalogue to the rear dated June 1908 (the book was published in August). An attractive example.
A collection of six short stories all of which were previously published in serialised magazine form. Comprising (in order of first publication) 'Gaspar Ruiz'; 'The Brute'; 'An Anarchist'; 'The Informer'; 'Il Conde'; 'The Duel'.
