First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Original illustrated card wraps, the front panel showing Sir Luke Fildes' painting, 'The Doctor'. Printed on laid paper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean. There are a couple of stains to the upper edge of the page block, spreading to the upper edge of the rear panel (both sides) and the outer edge of the final page. Lightly bumped to the lower spine tip with a little rubbing to corners. £7.95 price sticker covering the original £6.95 printed to the rear panel.
