First edition. Inscribed by the author and illustrator, with an original drawing by the illustrator. Publisher's original blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine and upper board. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the boards and spine showing only the lightest wear. The contents, with the inner front hinge cracked but holding are otherwise clean and bright throughout.

The recipient was a French hotelier, art collector and horse breeder. Ashton Stevens was a prominent drama critic, while Gene Markey was a journalist who went on to become a Hollywood screenwriter and producer. This book offers a collection of Steven's interviews with actors. Provenance: from the library of Martin Stone.
