ANYBODY AT HOME?

First edition. Signed by the author and inscribed with an original drawing. Illustrated softcover with a red cloth spine. Illustrated throughout in colour by H. A. Rey. Each double page spread features a different animal's house with a flap to lift to see its inhabitant. A good copy, the binding firm, the covers rubbed and creased, the top corner of the front panel with minor loss. The lightly toned and marked contents are without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Scarce inscribed.

Inscribed by H. A. Rey alongside a rabbit doodle in black ink on the first page "To Regan Jessett / [rabbit drawing] / H. A. Rey". Margret and H. A. Rey were a German-American husband and wife team who created many beloved children's books, though they are best known for the hugely popular 'Curious George' series starring an adventurous monkey which has been adapted into various animations (and even a video game). Their early works published by Houghton Mifflin list H. A. Rey alone as the author, however the pair stated that they created all of their books together, and they are both credited in their later publications.
