First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in dustwrapper designed by Geoffrey Whittam, who also provides the illustrations within. Illustrated map endpapers. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Lower edges untrimmed. The spine tips are a little softened and faded. There is a light dappled stain (c. 2.5 x 1cm) to the upper edge of the page block. In the dustwrapper, rubbed to edges, folds and extremities, most notably to spine tips where there is a little loss to the upper tip. There are a couple of closed tears to the lower edge of the lightly soiled rear panel, and another to the upper edge of the fold between spine and rear panels. Not price clipped (8s. 6d. net to the front flap).
