The author's sixth novel, a stand alone mystery and the basis for the 1959 British Don Chaffey directed film 'Danger Within' starring Richard Todd, Bernard Lee, Richard Attenborough and Michael Wilding. H. R. F. Keating, in his obituary for Michael Gilbert (in The Guardian), wrote that "Gilbert's time as a PoW prompted Death In Captivity (1952), surely the only whodunnit set in a prisoner-of-war camp".
