The author's sixth novel, a stand alone mystery. H. R. F. Keating, in his obituary for Michael Gilbert (in The Guardian), wrote that "Gilbert's time as a PoW prompted Death In Captivity (1952), surely the only whodunnit set in a prisoner-of-war camp". The basis for the 1959 British Don Chaffey directed film 'Danger Within' starring Richard Todd, Bernard Lee, Richard Attenborough and Michael Wilding. (Hubin).
