This example is numbered 104 of 130 copies printed on Japanese vellum. George William Eve was an etcher known for his bookplates and also member of the Herald's College. His knowledge of and interest in heraldry strongly influenced his work, with his bookplates, some of which were commissioned by the royal family, often featuring armorial motifs. This is the first of two books that he wrote on heraldry.
