A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the covers rubbed and creased at the extremities, the spine tips nicked. The inner front hinge is cracked but holding firm. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owner's marks.

Inscribed by Graham Greene in blue ink on the verso of the front cover "Best Regards / Graham Greene / Copenhagen Sept 1950". The recipient is the bookseller and publisher Per Saugman. Novelisations of Greene's two screenplays, both collaborations with the director Carol Reed. 'The Third Man', an original story was the basis for the multi-award winning 1949 film noir starring Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten. 'The Fallen Idol', based on Greene's 1936 short story 'The Basement Room', was filmed in 1948 and starred Ralph Richardson, Bobby Henrey, Michèle Morgan, and Denis O'Dea.
