ELLSWORTH KELLY: The Years in France, 1948 - 1954

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original black cloth boards with white titling to the front panel and spine, with illustrated dustwrapper, featuring Kelly's 'Colours for a Large Wall'. Containing 222 illustrations, 106 of which are in full colour. A fine copy, the binding square and tight, with clean cloth boards and contents free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete with a near fine dustwrapper, which is bumped and slightly creased to the top spine edge and along the top of the panels, faintly indented on the top right of the rear panel and middle of the front panel.

Kelly became a leading figure in 'Hard Edge' abstraction, with this book featuring for the first time his paintings and low relief work of this period. Published in conjunction with the exhibition at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, Westfalisches Landesmuseum and the National Gallery of Art in 1992 / 1993.
