EVELYN MAY AND THE SCREAMING EAGLE

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original orange cloth with black titles to the spine and upper board, in the Helen McKie illustrated dustwrapper. The contents, with a previous owner's bookplate and small shelf stamp to the front pastedown and his name and date inscribed at the top of the title page are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper that has several tiny closed tears at the spine tips and fold cornerswhich is a touch darkened to the spine and has several short closed tears to the spine tips and fold corners. With the publisher's printed price of 7/6 to the spine that has been covered with a 2/6 price label. Scarce in the dustwrapper.

A humorous tale told through the diary of Evelyn May, a little girl who the anonymous writer describes as "the seed of a flapper", complete with a child's naive spelling and vocabulary. Evelyn May travels to America with her English mother and American Father, and so ensues much UK vs US bickering and cultural satire with a distinctly 1920s slant. Following an earlier book titled 'Sh - Not Before Evelyn May'.
