First edition, first printing. Publisher's original dark red paper-covered boards with black titles to the spine, in the Eileen Soper illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated endpapers, a colour frontispiece, full page drawings in black and red and smaller drawings throughout the text in black by Eileen Soper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some rubbing and bumping to the spine tips and corners. The contents, with a gift inscription to the black front endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and dustmarked first printing dustwrapper (the telescope reversed on the cover illustration), that has a closed tear with associated creasing to the bottom edge of the front panel and little in the way of loss. Not price-clipped (6/- net to the lower front flap).
