Housed in the original solander (tray) case. Illustrated with two monochrome plates by Judy J. King. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Housed in the original tray case which has a little fading to the spine and edges.

Issued in a limited edition 'Publisher's edition' of 51 copies (from a total edition of 177), from which this example is numbered 39 and signed in black ink by Gregory Benford and Judy J. King on an illustration plate facing the limitation page. A novella by the hard science fiction writer and astrophysicist Gregory Benford, later collected in a book of the of the same name along with other shorter works by Benford, published by Bantam Spectra in 1995.
