First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in the dustwrapper designed by Charles Tunnicliffe, who also provides the illustrations within. Illustrated map endpapers. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Lower edges untrimmed. The spine tips are softened, and the upper spine has taken a knock which has left a few creases to the cloth. In the dustwrapper, rubbed to edges and extremities, most notably to spine tips: there is c. 1 x 1 cm area of loss to the upper tip and three nicks with loss to the lower tip. Closed tears to the rear (c. 2.5cm) and front (1.5cm) panel edges, with associated creasing. Not price clipped (8s. 6d. net to the front flap).
