SERGEANT BIGGLESWORTH C. I. D.

First edition, first printing. Original pale blue cloth with black lettering to the spine and front panel, in a slightly later dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding tight and square. There are a couple of half inch patches of fading at the head and foot of the spine and light spotting to the fore-edge of the page block. Previous owner's name written neatly in blue ink to the top right edge of the front free endpaper. The contents are otherwise without marks or inscriptions, with the colour frontispiece, title page, and eight two-tone illustrations all bright and clean. The lightly toned dustwrapper has a few small closed tears with tape to the underside. Not price-clipped (6 /-) to the front flap. The rear flap lists titles up to Biggles Breaks the Silence which would date the dustwrapper to 1949. An attractive copy of the first post-war Biggles story.
