First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with black titles to the spine, in the Bip Pares illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a little bumping and rubbing to the spine ends and corners, the cloth with a light circular mark to the upper board. The contents, with dustiness to the top edge of the closed text block, toning to the endpapers and a residue mark (from a bookplate) to the front free endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete in the rubbed, creased, nicked and marked dustwrapper that has numerous short closed tears at the fold ends and a small chip at the head of the spine (repaired with tape to the underside). Not price-clipped (10s 6d net to the front flap).
