STRANGE CONFLICT

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the upper board and spine, in the Frank C. Papé illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth with a few light marks. The contents, with toning to the cheap wartime paper and mild spotting to the closed text block edge are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Twelve pages of adverts for Wheatley's earlier books at the rear. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has heavy toning and some tears to the spine and panel edges, a small chip at the top of the front panel, and a couple of scuffs to the rear flap. Not price-clipped (9/- net to the front flap).

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the title page "For H. Finch / with very best wishes / from / Dennis Wheatley". The second black magic novel featuring the Duke de Richleau following 'The Devil Rides Out'.
