Original beige cloth with gilt titles to the spines, in the original Michael Whelan illustrated dustwrappers, the spines of which form a continuous illustration when placed side-by-side. Very near fine copies, the bindings square and firm, the cloth bright. Volume three has a few tiny spots to the top edge of the closed text-block, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the original dustwrappers, that of volume four with a faint abrasion to the rear panel, otherwise all are bright and without fading, loss or tears. An extensive collection of the multiple award-winning science fiction writer Roger Zelazny's short stories along with a selection of essays, novel extracts and other curiosities, many with additional notes explaining historical context, allusions and obscure language. The Hugo Award-winning artist Michael Whelan had semi-retired from illustration when the Nesfra Press asked him to create the dustwrapper imagery for this collection, and stated that he 'couldn't resist' the opportunity when he learned that Zelazny had commented in an interview before his death that he had always wanted a 'Whelan Cover'.
