First UK edition, first printing. Original green cloth with silver titles to the spine, in the Richard Weaver illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a tiny bump on the cloth of the upper board. The closed text-block edge and margins are toned and lightly spotted, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper which has some faint spotting to the flaps. Clipped and repriced with a label by the publisher.

A science fiction story about genetic experimentation in an interplanetary human-alien war which won the 1963 Hugo Award for best novella. First published in Galaxy magazine in 1962 and then as an Ace paperback original in 1963.
