First edition, first printing. Original black cloth lettered in gilt, in the dustwrapper designed by Dick Malt, the front panel reproducing an engraving from Ferando Bertelli's 'Omnium Fere Gentium Nostrae Aetatis Habitus' (1563). A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout. In the dustwrapper, fine except for the merest edgewear and a couple of light surface marks. A lovely copy.
A collection of essays by twelve leading scholars issued to mark the 400th anniversary of Marston's death and offering fresh perspectives on a figure whose achievements have, for too long, been overlooked by modern criticism.
