First editions, first printings. Seven volumes. Original cloth in dustwrappers. All are very good to fine, without inscriptions or stamps, the bindings square and firm. The paper stock used across the sequence is of varying quality, the pages of Vol. 1 (in particular) and the final two volumes are more toned than those in between. Complete with the original near fine or better dustwrappers, without fading or tears and not price-clipped. A very presentable complete set of 'The First Born Of Egypt' novels, the sequel to 'Alms for Oblivion'.
In an entertaining interview with Peter Burton in the April 1992 issue of 'Gay Times' (marking the publication of 'The Troubadour' and completion of the 'First Born of Egypt' sequence), Raven spoke of the logistical problems of writing and publishing novels in series: " [...] when it came to getting the 'First Born of Egypt' commissioned, I said it was going to be a sensitive study of the youth of today or some rubbish like that, and I knew it wasn't going to be at all. All I wanted was to get back to my old numbers. [...]. My real interest was carrying on the old gang."
