First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Original burgundy cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout with black and white in-text drawings by Julian Bell. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, there is some spotting to the closed text block edge and the occasional spot internally, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper which is slightly spotted at the edges of the rear panel.
